WOAH.

Saturday night (June 4th) is now reserved for Red Door (a.k.a. DC Jazz Loft) ONCE MORE!

I'm very excited, and look forward to the awesome ambiance and great Jazz.

WOOPS, forgot to mention that this is all because DC Jazz Festival starts June 1st through the 13th. It's going to be insane, considering how big/small/tight/free the jazz scene is in DC (I'm not exaggerating the descriptions…they're all right!).

So, there you have it. I might catch something during the week, but again, it depends on those soon-to-be-existant funds of mine. Aren't I just a poor soul. =]

More VitaminWater Uncapped Live DC (though very short…)

Hey hey, darlings! This weekend has been quite slow, due to lack of events I'm jumping to get to/lack of funds at all, but I have more photos of VitaminWater Uncapped Live! I'm seriously in love with this space…it is just so awesome. Really well edited artwork, and great DJ's.

Our night was mostly ruined by rain and a person not showing up to the party *again* sighhh…
But whatever, it's still a blast to go all over the place.

Secret view of the main stage.

A piece of work I witnessed created the first night, now completed.
And a pretty lady to boot! <3

The title of this rather large installation was…'Jackson Pollack on Prozac'. YES INDEED.

Handmade and hand-painted bricks in a creative shot. You like?

CANDYCANDYCANDYCANDYCANDYCANDYCANDY.

LOVE the texture of this board design.

My pretty lady again, looking  into some spotlights.

The band Bake Sale, playing poppy and sweet (but not saccharine) alternative jams.

Low light + guy dancing his heart out = BLUR.

So there ya go! I'll be going back again. AND just to let you know, VitaminWater Uncapped live is going strong till the 17th of June, so make sure you get there! This is the link to the schedule, another link to my previous adventure here, and ANOTHER link to the album on Facebook in its entirety. Toodles, my loves! I'll have more news as my bank account acquires the dolla dolla bills, y'all.

Just a reminder...

  • I'm going back to VitaminWater Uncapped Live (DC) tomorrow (hopefully?) with some really awesome friends, so stay tuned!
  • If you need instant gratification when it comes to my adventures/everyday happenings/photography, here are some links:
  1. This is my PhotoTumblr, which is really a 365 Photo Project. I'm trying to track (and show you) my progress over a year from when I've started taking photos with my new Nikon D3000.
  2. This is my personal Tumblr, which is sure as hell NSFW cause I cuss a lot. I also vent alot, and post random things, so if you're not into it, I don't blame you. I can be extremely obnoxious…I know….
  3. This is my Flickr. I've been pondering upgrading so I don't have to wait for the next month to roll around to I can post more pics, but for now I'll stick with the free stuff cause I'm broke (TMI?).
  4. This is my Twitter, and I usually talk about Doc and Photo stuff there, but lately mostly Silverdocs stuff.
  5. This is my Facebook. You can friend me. It's just fine. I cuss there too, so yeah….
And that's about it! OH WAIT. NO. THAT IS NOT ABOUT IT.

It's not broken at all, comes with the USB cable, and I'll throw in a clear backplate for it.
(Note: Only in the DC/MD area)
$160 too, and I only got it in November of last year (I'm upgrading, woot).

OKAY. That, I swear, is it. No more till Saturday, unless I've got another thing planned that night. Tah tah!

End of the World Party (Featuring Pretty much everyone) @ VitaminWater Uncapped Live in DC

WOAH.

Holy (pardon the chinese) SHIT-TAKE MUSHROOMS was that awesome as hell.

Yep, that is a female's reproductive system. HELL YES.

And then the singer is randomly PREGGERS. AWESOME. That's gonna be one grooooovin baby, if you ask me.

My two friends, lookin chic as they walk into the 'rave' style basement. Seriously--four floors of absolute, beautiful and non-threatening chaos. LOVED IT.

There was even a photo booth!

SO this music and art installation is apparently happening for the NEXT MONTH (till 6/19, I'm thinking). SO THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO (CAPS LOCK):
THIS IS THE LINEUP OF EVENTS FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. Bookmark this shit like your life depends on it, because it is a really fantastic space, with great art, well mixed drinks, and seriously great people that are as overwhelmed (positively) as you are.

A lot more acts are following up the End of the World party, and trust me, you'll find me at one of them VERY soon.

The space is huge, and incredible (there's a fucking BALL PIT, man), and everyone is just sooo cool. Didn't found a single douchebag there, and I was there from 10:30pm to 2:30am.
Hope you enjoy the pics! See the album in it's complete form here on my Facebook!

You know what grinds my gears? (YES, this is a complaint post…)

When tourists come into my great, beautiful city and bash it within earshot of one of it's lifetime residents.

Pardon the french, but are you fucking kidding me?! SERIOUSLY? You're talking shit about DC while traversing the U St. Corridor.

I might have to beat up someone.

I was pretty close too. But I just asked, "Thanks. We like you too. Now get the fuck out."

The guy and his REALLY skanky arm fungus stopped in their tracks, turned around and stared at me.

I mean, let me set this up for you: I had just come back from an INCREDIBLY UNBEARABLE date----I'm a bitch, I know, but I've had plenty of bad dates (NOT RECENTLY THOUGH HEHEHEHEHE *nudge and a wink*), so screw it.

And he chose Cafe Saint-Ex. WHY.

IN ANY CASE, I'm leaving, cause 'I've got to go to a meeting in the morning' and come across these jackasses tipsily saying "Geez, DC is just full of rude, angry, shitty people. Nothing's good here. Fuck DC, this city sucks."

People passed them by, visibly appalled. I shook my head, not even understanding how people could be so disgustingly rude. I mean---UGH.

ANYHOW, I said "Thanks. We like you too. Now get the fuck out." which made them stop in their tracks.

The guy replied, "What the fuck is your problem?"
=]
"MY PROBLEM IS YOU FUCKERS COME INTO MY CITY, ONLY EAT AT MCD'S OR SUBWAY CAUSE IT'S 'SAFE' FOOD FOR YOUR DUMB ASSES, AND BITCH AND MOAN THAT PEOPLE SUCK HERE. IN FUCKING PUBLIC."

Skank proceeded to say to douche (insert Valley-trash voice), "Oh my god, what a bitch!"
=]
"Fuck YES, I am a bitch. And I am from the DMV. Now please, get the fuck out of my way."

I walked off, angry, but empowered. A few onlookers said a few 'Hell yeahs' and smiled my way.

Moral of the story: Careful what you say when you're traveling/out of town. Cause a short-tempered and short Dominican-American woman that lives for her city might tear you a new asshole.

OH MY GOODNESS BLOGGER.

You kept me from my public.
My BEAUTIFUL, LOVING, SUPPORTIVE PUBLIC THAT ISN'T IMAGINARY!
How dare you.

But, I am here and with updates. IN LIST FORM LIKE MOMMA LIKES IT.

  1. I thank all of you for viewing and following me on because of DC Jazz Loft. I knew giving you discernible pictures of an event would peak your interest.
  2. Also wanna thank CapitalBop, and Gio! You are awesome for mentioning little 'ol me. Expect me and my gang at the series during DC Jazz Fest. EXPECT. xx
  3. I have a Flickr and a Photography dedicated Tumblr now. So get on dem sites and follow so I can follow you and we can share some love.
  4. Fenton Village (the community on and near Fenton Street in Silver Spring, MD [just outside of DC and near a Metro]) will be having Taste The World-Fenton Village Fest/Event/gathering? It will be awesome. 2pm-5pm. Taste some nommy food from the restaurants around, and come to Dale Music Co to hear some of our lesson students play music. AND ME PLAY MUSIC HORRENDOUSLY. =] I'll be between Kefa Cafe and Dale. (And once you visit Fenton Village's FB page…YES I'M THE ONE THAT WON THE GIFT CARD. WHAT WHAAAAAT.)
So that is all, my lovely, actually existing friends. It's so nice to say that you are real.

D.C. Jazz Loft: DCJF preview show (presented by CapitalBop)

I can't. I can't.

It was too good of a night. I think it might become a dream if I go on and ON AND ON about it.

But nope, it was for-freaking real.

And there was beautiful music. MY GOD, NOTHING STANK UP IN DAT LOFT.
…sorry bout that. I'm still recovering from the awesomeness.

BUT, I shall go ahead with business….

The lineup consisted of OOO (pronounced Tri-O-Trio), Starlicker (I know, the name already convinces you of how beastly they are), the Elijah Jamal Balbed Quartet (awesome guys, and I know Elijah!), and the U St. All-Stars (all the people that left before seeing them DEFINITELY weren't thinking straight. Or were maybe just too drunk).

A. FREAKING. GUMBALL. MACHINE. *DIES AND GOES TO HEAVEN*

OOO (above), jamming out with abstract, deconstructed sound. It was awesome to listen to, and to watch. They know how to play with each other, and it was superb to watch.
(There are so many people in the group, that I could only get the names of Bassist, Luke Stewart, and Alto Saxophonist, Aron Martin)

Elijah Jamal Balbed Quartet:
Elijah Jamal Balbed - Tenor Sax
Samir Moulay - Guitar
Eliot Seppa - Bass
Sam Prather - Drums

These gentleman came in with a more constructed, familiar style of jazz. Very well executed, and these young guys (seriously, very early twenties and already playing so judiciously and maturely), are really going to go far in the DC Jazz scene.

Starlicker Vibraphonist Jason Adasiewicz with hands like a mad-man.

Starlicker:
Rob Mazurek - Cornet
Jason Adasiewicz - Vibraphone
John Herndon - Drums

I'm on the far right of this^^^ photo (this was during Starlicker), being mesmerized by the sick and slick Vibraphone of Starlicker.

If you EVER need more insight about DC's Jazz Scene, look no further than
These guys know their people, their jazz, and where the hottest acts are at.
And they're super nice too.

And last, but certainly, not least---
U St. All-Stars (with the sweetest, most refreshing night cap ever):
Reginald Cyntje - Trombone
Allen Jones - Drums
Eliot Seppa - Bass

Well damn. I've gone and spoiled you with so many pictures, so many names, and zero complaints about pictures (from myself).
Let me spoil you rotten now.
Go here for my full photo album.
Then, AGAIN, go here for CapitalBop, and bookmark that shit HARD.
And THEN head over to the DC Jazz Festival site (happening between 6/1-13/11)
because there will be MORE DC Jazz Loft series.
……..This incredible lineup WAS JUST A TASTER.

I hope you've enjoyed this. I know I did.
